When it comes to care, the word “trust” gets thrown around a lot.
But how do you actually build trust — especially with someone who’s stepping into your home and supporting your loved one?
At Care with Confidence, we believe trust starts with truth.
That’s why we’re opening up our vetting process — so you can see exactly what it takes for a carer to be approved by us. No vague claims. No empty reassurances. Just clear, step-by-step safety.
Because your family deserves more than “nice.”
You deserve safe, skilled, and kind — every time.
Why Our Vetting Process Matters
Many care providers promise “reliable carers” or say they “screen all staff.”
But what does that actually mean?
At Care with Confidence, it means a carer goes through one of the most rigorous and people-focused approval processes in the industry.
We don’t just check boxes. We check character.
Because a certificate doesn’t tell you who someone is. But their actions, manner, and history do.
So, what do we check?
Step 1: Application & First Review
Before we even speak to a carer, we review their application in detail. We look for:
- Relevant care experience
- Professional qualifications
- Red flags in employment gaps or inconsistencies
- Clear written communication and attention to detail
Only those who meet our minimum quality threshold move forward.
We don’t accept everyone — and we don’t rush.
Step 2: Enhanced Background & ID Checks
Every carer must undergo:
- Enhanced DBS Check (UK) or equivalent in their country
- Right to Work verification
- Two forms of photographic ID
- Proof of current address
We also scan for any safeguarding or criminal concerns, no matter how historic. If anything comes up, the carer is automatically excluded.
Safety first. Always. No exceptions.
Step 3: Qualification & Skills Verification
We verify all essential certifications, including:
- First Aid and CPR
- Manual Handling
- Medication Management
- Infection Control
- Safeguarding Adults
- Dementia Awareness (if relevant)
We ask for physical copies of certificates and contact issuing bodies if there’s any doubt.
We never take someone’s word for it. We check.
Step 4: Reference Checks That Actually Happen
We don’t just ask for references. We speak to them.
We personally contact:
- A recent client or family member (where applicable)
- A previous manager or employer
We ask specific questions:
- Did they show up reliably?
- How did they handle pressure?
- Were there any complaints or concerns?
- Would you trust them with your own parent again?
If the answer isn’t a confident “yes” — we don’t move forward.
Step 5: In-Depth Interview (Human > Checklist)
This is where it gets personal.
We meet each carer for a face-to-face or video interview — and not just to quiz them on policies. We’re looking for heart, empathy, and professionalism.
We ask about:
- Why they got into care
- A time they handled a difficult situation
- What respect and dignity mean to them
- How they’d manage family concerns or unexpected events
We watch for tone, body language, and presence.
We don’t just ask, “Can they do the job?”
We ask, “Would I feel good about them caring for my mum?”
Step 6: Trial Period or Shadowing (Optional)
For some carers — especially live-in or complex care providers — we arrange a trial shift or shadowing session with an experienced colleague or supervisor.
This allows us to observe:
- How they interact with clients
- How they respond to feedback
- Their timekeeping, hygiene, and communication skills
Great carers don’t just say the right things — they do the right things.
Step 7: Ongoing Monitoring and Support
Even after approval, the vetting doesn’t stop.
We:
- Conduct regular check-ins with carers and families
- Respond to any concerns immediately
- Review care notes and feedback
- Offer refresher training and wellbeing check-ins
- Remove anyone who no longer meets our standard
Approval isn’t a one-time stamp. It’s a standard they have to maintain.
The “Care with Confidence” Standard
To be approved by us, a carer must be:
- Fully background-checked
- Professionally qualified
- Warm, respectful, and emotionally intelligent
- Reliable, communicative, and consistent
- Someone we would welcome into our own home
It’s not just about tasks. It’s about trust.
