Finding the right carer for someone you love can feel like a full-time job. You need to check qualifications, confirm references, ask hard questions, chase paperwork — all while trying to navigate your own emotions.
At Care with Confidence, we believe that you shouldn’t have to carry that burden alone. That’s why we created a care approval process designed to take the guesswork — and the stress — out of choosing a carer.
We’ve already done the hard work behind the scenes.
So when you meet a carer through Care with Confidence, you’re not starting from scratch.
You’re starting from a place of security, clarity, and trust.
Here’s how our carer approval process works — and why it gives families like yours peace of mind from day one.
Step 1: Initial Screening
Our process starts long before a carer ever meets a client.
Every carer or care provider who applies to join the Care with Confidence network goes through a detailed screening process.
We ask for:
- A full application detailing experience, qualifications, and areas of expertise
- Proof of right to work in the UK
- A current enhanced DBS check (criminal background)
- Details of past employment and care-related roles
- At least two verifiable references from former clients or managers
We don’t rely on surface-level CVs or templated bios. We dig deeper — because your safety depends on our standards.
Step 2: Interview and Character Assessment
Once the paperwork checks out, we don’t stop there.
We hold a one-on-one interview with every carer. Why? Because qualifications don’t tell the full story.
In the interview, we explore:
- Why they chose a career in care
- How they handle stress, emotional moments, and challenging behaviours
- What dignity means to them in practical terms
- Their communication style — with both clients and families
We also look for something that doesn’t fit on a form: kindness.
You can teach technique. But you can’t teach empathy.
And we’re only interested in carers who bring both.
Step 3: Training & Competency Checks
Every carer must provide evidence of current, up-to-date training in key areas:
- Safeguarding of adults (and children if applicable)
- Manual handling and mobility support
- Emergency first aid
- Infection control
- Medication administration (where required)
- Dementia care or specialist training, where relevant
We don’t accept outdated or incomplete certificates. And if a carer’s training isn’t current, we support them in getting fully up to date before they’re considered for any placement.
Some of our carers also undergo skills refresher checks, especially if they haven’t been active recently or are returning after a break.
We don’t cut corners — because we know what’s at stake.
Step 4: Reference Conversations (Not Just Letters)
References matter. But they have to be real — and they have to be detailed.
That’s why we speak personally with each carer’s references. We don’t accept a written testimonial without a follow-up call.
In these conversations, we ask:
- How the carer performed under pressure
- How they interacted with the client’s family
- Whether they were reliable, communicative, and respectful
- Whether the referee would personally hire them again
These calls often reveal the true picture — and help us make decisions based not just on qualifications, but on character and consistency.
Step 5: Matching for Personality and Fit
Once a carer is approved, we don’t just add them to a list and hope for the best.
We take time to understand:
- The type of care they’re best suited for
- Their communication style
- Their preferences (for example, some carers may be better suited to clients with dementia, while others thrive in palliative care or companionship roles)
This means when a family reaches out to us, we’re not just sending “whoever’s available.”
We’re sending someone we believe will truly connect.
Step 6: Ongoing Monitoring and Feedback
Our care doesn’t stop at “match day.”
We continue to:
- Check in with families to make sure everything is working well
- Support carers with training refreshers, wellbeing resources, and regular communication
- Step in quickly if adjustments are needed
If something’s not right — we fix it.
If needs change — we adapt.
This ongoing relationship is part of what makes Care with Confidence different. We’re not just here to place carers. We’re here to make sure the placement works.

Real Results, Real Reassurance
Here’s what one family recently told us:
“I thought I’d have to check everything myself — qualifications, DBS, references. But Care with Confidence had already done it all. And when I met the carer they recommended, I knew straight away she was the one. We didn’t just get help — we got peace of mind.”
That’s what our process is designed to do:
Give you time back, take the pressure off, and give your family the safety you deserve.
